Comeback with the song “Hold me Closer”, favourite pair Elton John and Britney Spears

The duo- popular singers have been active on giving hints by sending adorable emoticons, happy childhood pictures, and the promise of a recast ’70s favourite on social media for weeks. The teasing to the fans  made them excited and curated for the upcoming track.

The musical pairing since, well, Elton John and Britney Spears for “Hold Me Closer,” their collaborative track that debuted on Friday, the two singers mixed their vocals with two John classics.

Both songs are extrapolated even as time progresses from a flimsy guitar riff into a mildly groovy pop song. Listeners with keen ears will also hear references to John’s  hit song with Kiki Dee.

Almost the entire track is coloured by hazy synths and Auto-Tune, with John’s expert piano playing standing out at the conclusion.

Fans of Spears will appreciate the mix of pop, disco, and the instantly recognised girly voice, which seems to have remained the same despite at age 40.

Since Spears’ 13-year conservatorship ended last November and she married Sam Asghari in June, the focus of this story is undoubtedly her presence, as this is her first new album to be released since. Glory, her most recent album, was released in 2016.

In 2000, John had already witnessed the song’s comeback.

While now he’s also associated with contemporary musicians, such as Lipa, alongside with whom he had a best ten success; the renowned piano virtuoso has retained his fondness for duets.

Similar to “Hold Me Closer,” John’s collaboration with Lipa combined two of his prior singles, one from the 1970s and the second from the more recent works in 1979.

John’s in 2021 album, “The Lockdown Sessions” album, featuring collaborations with both contemporary and vintage music icons.

The two first connected in 2014 at John’s annual AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party. Spears are a recent addition to John and Spears’ connection. The idea for a duet was born after Spears tweeted about how much she adored Tiny Dancer a year later.

Both musicians are thrilled about the duet, despite the delay in matching them, and they expressed their joy in a joint press statement.

Spears thanked John for the privilege of working with you and utilizing your renowned intellect is described by John as “really an icon, one of history’s great pop artists.”
