Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are taking full use of their stay in New York City
On a recent trip to New York, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spotted walking hand in hand after dinner. On Monday, they were seen enjoying a supper with pals at the Italian restaurant in Lower Manhattan.
At dinner, Meghan, 40, wore a black strapless jumpsuit along with white fold-over trim. The actress was looking beautiful with hair tied at the back.
On the other hand, Harry, 37, stayed cool in navy button-down and dark slacks.
The pair had travelled from California to celebrate Nelson Mandela Day at the UN. Out of their busy schedule they enjoyed dinner dates.
There was a special speech by Prince Harry in memory of the illustrious South African president.
He started by saying, “Those of us who were not lucky enough to get to know Mandela well have come to understand the man via his legacy, the letters he wrote to his people while sequestered in his cell, the speeches he gave to them, and those beautiful shirts that he wore.
On his wall and in his heart every day there is a picture of Mandela, Prince Harry said he keeps a 1997 photograph of Princess Diana and Nelson Mandela close to him.
“The first thing that struck me when I first saw the picture was how happy my mum looked. The liveliness, even the cheekiness” remarked Harry. “The absolute joy of being in fellowship with another person is so dedicated to serve mankind.”
Mandela, he said, was “beaming” despite all that had happened to him.
Later on Monday, Meghan went out for lunch at the Crosby Hotel with her friend as well as political crusader Gloria Steinem.
Steinem acknowledged Meghan’s contribution to their connection and said that the duchess contacted her once she moved to California in 2020.
She continued, “Meghan, I owe you this friendship. “I was not aware that we were neighbors in California, where I have been taking refuge on a friend’s property. In California, people staying half an hour away are called or referred to as “neighbors”.
