In this exclusive StarWorld Magazine interview, Daisy shares how her early experiences shaped her path, what keeps her grounded in the fast-paced world of Hollywood, and why acting is more than a career—it’s her true calling.

Please introduce yourself to our readers – where are you from and how did your journey in acting begin?
Hello, thank you so much for having me, StarWorld Magazine! My name is Daisy Close. I am from Dallas, Texas, and my journey in acting began when I was merely a child. I grew up as an only child, always watching movies and TV shows and creating my own stories with my vast imagination. That curiosity and love for storytelling followed me throughout the years, and as I grew older, I realized that passion of mine transpired as acting. My mother was quick to notice my ever-growing love for the performing arts and placed me in many lessons, classes, and productions to enhance my experience in the arts. Throughout the years my love for acting and the performing arts only grew stronger, and I knew it was my purpose and what I was called to do in this lifetime. I witnessed my passion and love for the performing arts not only bring so much happiness into my life but also into the lives of others around me, and that was always so inspiring to me.
What was the moment you knew acting was your passion?
There was never really a set moment when I knew acting was my passion, rather a series of events that led me to the accumulation that acting was not only my passion but also my purpose in life. As I grew older, my life became tougher and more complicated. I faced more problems and dealt with more issues, but I began to notice how the arts always felt like an escape for me. It was like my happy place, my safe space in a sense, where I could be whoever I wanted; I could act or say whatever I wanted, and I wouldn’t feel judged for who I was. It made me realize how much power I held in the performing arts and how I could use my voice for the better. Not only as a benefit to my life, but also to change the lives of those around me for the better. I saw the happiness my singing and acting not only brought me but also brought my family and friends when I would share my gifts with them in ways I never thought could be possible. It left such an impact on me and those around me that I knew that acting and the performing arts were my purpose and my gift to bring more happiness and positivity into this world.
Did you have any formal training, or was your path more unconventional?
My path was a little bit of both. I’d like to say that I started more unconventionally, and along the way I received formal training as I realized this path was my purpose and something I wanted to pursue for the rest of my life. I am so thankful to all of the amazing coaches, professors, and mentors who have helped me gain the knowledge I have today in my chosen industry throughout the years. I truly believe knowledge is power, whether it comes through training or your own self-pursuit.

Who were your early influences or inspirations in the entertainment world?
Oh, there are too many to count! I would say my early influences and inspirations in the acting world have to be Meryl Streep, Zendaya, Emma Stone, and Cameron Diaz. And my early influences and inspirations in the music world would have to be Beyoncé, Shakira, Rihanna, and Alicia Keys, just to name a few.
CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Can you share your breakthrough role or project that changed everything for you?
My first break in the entertainment industry would have to be when I was four years old and got my first ever cover as a child model for an edition of DFW Child in Dallas. I remember my mom being so proud of that accomplishment and how happy it made me. She bought a bunch of the magazines and sent them to all of my family back home in Peru and framed a few around my
room and our home. What I remember the most is her taking me out for ice cream the day the issue got released, and I was so happy because I got to get birthday cake ice cream, which was my favorite flavor. I remember I felt so special because I got to get birthday cake ice cream even though it wasn’t even my birthday.
What has been your most memorable on-screen experience so far?
My most memorable TV experience would have to be filming season two of Landman. Since season two has not been released yet, I’m unable to share specific details, but it was a very memorable experience for me because it was one of my first times being able to experience
what it was like to be a working actress on a high-scale set. Just being able to be in the room where it happens, taking in the glitz and glam of it all, felt so surreal and magical to me.
How do you prepare for a new role – mentally, emotionally, or physically?
That’s also a really good question. As an actress, our jobs are very mentally and physically demanding, so I always try to clear my head and remain in a good headspace to prepare before taking on a new role. Of course, every actor has their own way to prepare prior to breaking down a new role, but I like to completely remove myself from any distractions and immerse myself in the shoes and the world of the character I am preparing to step into. I channel my thoughts, senses, energy, and everything in and around me to how the character would think, act, and feel in that moment. I remain present with myself in hindsight of who I am trying to become. I keep the parts of myself that I feel can relate to my character grounded, and I use the parts that are different as a guide to how I can channel myself into my character to make all of me feel more alive in my work.
Do you prefer film, television, or theatre work – and why?
That’s a great question; it’s difficult because they are all so much fun and so different in their own ways, but if I had to choose one avenue of acting, it would have to be film/TV. I find it exhilarating being on camera, and I love the vast connection you are able to create with your audience when acting on camera versus acting on stage. I love making an impact with my work. One of the many reasons why I love acting and being an actress is because I get to tell such beautiful and important stories that would otherwise go unnoticed or underappreciated if it weren’t for the beautiful art that is acting. Acting on camera allows me to capture those moments in time and gives me a wider audience to connect with and share these stories and moments with. At the end of the day, my job as an actress is to make you feel something, and I love using film/TV as my outlet to positively impact as many people as I can through my work. My ultimate dream as an actress is to act in movies and TV series, so I also lean more towards film and TV, as that is a bit more in line with my pursuits.
How do you handle challenges or criticism in the industry?
I believe I handle criticism and feedback very well, as I believe both constructive criticism and feedback are how we are able to most adequately grow in our professional as well as personal lives as human beings. I believe the lessons I’ve learned and the challenges I have faced over
the past years have truly been the stepping stones that have guided me on this journey of growth to where I am today in my career. I believe the criticism I’ve faced has allowed me to develop thick skin while providing me with the most indestructible mindset and mentality to have for myself as a performing artist in the entertainment industry. I truly believe that if it weren’t for all of the feedback I have received and the criticism I’ve experienced, I wouldn’t have achieved half of the accomplishments I have thus far in my career, as I believe the feedback and criticism have pushed and propelled me in a way like no other. It has given me the determination and drive I need to develop a work ethic like no other. It has ultimately led me to strive for success, as it pushes me harder to continue improving and learning new things every day. I have always openly listened to and applied every ounce of constructive criticism I’ve received, and any other sort of criticism is solely used as fuel and fire for my dreams.
CRAFT & PROCESS
What attracts you to a script or character?
I’m often attracted to a script or character through the said story or storyline that will be perceived through my acting work, either through the script’s storytelling or the characters’ words, actions, and emotions throughout the piece. I like pieces of work that have depth to them or almost a whimsical layer of feeling that allows you to dive deep into the story and really step into those characters’ shoes so you can experience the story through them. I like to live vicariously through my work, meaning I like to be one with my characters and find pieces of their lives that can connect to mine in a sense to really access and harbor their emotions and process how they will react to certain events that happen to them while reading the course of
the script. I like to feel transported into my story and character, so I am really attracted to pieces of work that I can relate to and that let me do so.
How do you connect with your character on an emotional level?
I always find a genuine connection to my character that allows me to connect to them on an emotional level. Whether it’s a connection based on their upbringing, childhood, or just their life in general, I like to do my analysis on the character and really invest in their thinking process, finding all of the thoughts such as what makes them feel alive, makes them tick, and what brings them joy in their lives. I think taking the time to study your character and all of the details about them, both big and small, is what makes all the difference to bringing them to life and making them not only stand out but also unique to who you as an actor want them to be and how you want them to be perceived by the audience. I think it’s important to be mindful of both narratives with the characters’ best interests at heart.
Do you have a dream role or genre you’d love to explore in the future?
Definitely! I love musical theatre and would love to be in a musical film like The Greatest Showman or the Elvis biopic. I thought both of those movies were absolutely brilliant, and they have changed my life in so many ways in terms of what I see myself doing on screen. I found Austin Butler to be incredible as Elvis, and Hugh Jackman was magical as P.T. Barnum. I am very interested in musical theater, but I also love action and drama movies such as Marvel and Mission Impossible. I’m so excited to see Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning with Tom Cruise this month. I think Tom Cruise is amazing, and I’m head over heels with the action-packed stunts and suspenseful storytelling within these action and drama films. I love Tom Holland and Zendaya in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and I love the humor and witty charm they both bring to their characters throughout the film. My dream is to be able to explore these genres and to one day be able to do my own stunts, choreography, and write my own music in films aside from being an actress.
Who are some directors, writers, or co-stars you’d love to work with?
As I mentioned before, some of my influences I’d love to one day co-star with include Meryl Streep, Zendaya, Emma Stone, and Cameron Diaz. I would also adore to work with Kenny Ortega one day; I’ve been manifesting that for a while now. I love his work ethic and dedication he pours into each and every film he makes. I’d also love to work with The Telsey Office and be cast in one of their amazing films.
How do you continue growing your craft as an actor?
I continue growing my craft as an actor by keeping myself inspired and motivated, whether that be through new classes, seminars, or workshops, or by keeping myself booked and busy on set and learning new things from other actors and professionals. There are so many ways to continue growing your craft as an actor both inside the classroom and on set. I don’t think there’s one way to learn or grow in this industry, rather a drive to continue to absorb knowledge through every opportunity that comes your way. I think it’s also beneficial to stay in a mindset
that there is always room for improvement and new things to learn, as this is an ever-growing industry that is constantly evolving and changing by the minute. We want to make sure we set ourselves up for success as actors by pushing ourselves to always learn new things to grow our foundation and already strong skill set.
PERSONALITY & PASSIONS
When you’re not acting, how do you spend your time?
When I’m not acting, I love to spend my time with my family and friends. I am a people person and an extrovert, so I love always being around people and having a good time. Some of my favorite hobbies include singing, songwriting, listening to music, dancing, traveling, working out, going on walks, running, swimming, shopping, taking pictures, and watching movies.
Are there any causes or issues you’re passionate about and support publicly?
Absolutely! I’ve been a proud partner with St. Jude for about three years now. St. Jude’s is committed to advancing cures and means of prevention for pediatric catastrophic diseases through both research and treatment. I became involved with St. Jude’s when I began donating several school supplies a couple of years ago at a location near me. I walked into St. Jude’s only expecting to drop off my items and leave, but I left St. Jude’s with a whole lot more than I expected. I left St. Jude’s with an abundance of love and a hope of healing. Seeing such bright smiles and how appreciative all of the patients were at St. Jude’s really touched my heart. It opened my eyes and changed my perspective as I witnessed how grateful the patients were for the same “ordinary” things we, as humans, take for granted every day. I felt surrounded by such love, strength, and perseverance that it inspired me to support their cause and become a part of a community and mission greater than myself.
What keeps you grounded amid the fast-paced entertainment industry?
My faith has kept me grounded amid the fast-paced and often self-doubting entertainment industry. My faith has proven a testimony to me in so many ways throughout my life, but especially when it comes to all of my professional pursuits. My faith has served as a perfect example of what it means to banish all self-doubt and to fully rest in peace, reassured in your own humanity and being. The entertainment industry is a harsh world, and while you meet many great people along the way, it’s also filled with many people who aren’t who they claim to be. They will attempt to deceive you for their own benefit. My faith has shown me that I never need to compromise who I am or any of the morals or boundaries I have set for myself for an opportunity or door to open, for I know God has all of the right opportunities and lucky breaks right around the corner coming my way. I know all of the hard work I have put into making my dreams come true over the years, and I know that all of that hard work has not been hidden behind closed doors but rather done in silence, for I don’t need to prove myself to anyone or any opportunity, for God sees my true character and work ethic and will favor me for me. I don’t

doubt my talents, as I know they were gifts given to me from the Most High as tools to bring others joy and leave my own unique positive impact on the world that is true to who I am. Being humble and staying in the right faith-based mindset has changed my life in so many ways for the better and has truly grounded and impacted not only how I see myself but also how I perceive my dreams within the entertainment industry.
How do you maintain balance between your personal and professional life?
Now this is a million-dollar question, because honestly I don’t even know how I do it sometimes. But all jokes aside, I know I am human and need breaks too regardless of how much I want to achieve all of my dreams, so I make sure I prioritize my self-care and make time for myself throughout the week amid my busy schedule. I make sure I prioritize myself, my family, my friends, living healthy, and overall just my well-being. I personally believe that no matter how busy you are, you always make time for the people and priorities you care about. It’s a choice you have to make, but an essential one for a well-balanced lifestyle. Sometimes,
all it takes is a quick walk outside, while other days it might require a rest day or doing something fun with your friends and family. I won’t lie, it’s a lot of trying to juggle acting, modeling, singing, and writing my own music, but I really enjoy the hustle because I love what I do, and I know I’m chasing after my dreams. One thing I want to get better at, however, is not putting so much on my plate to the point where it overflows and I begin to feel behind and overwhelmed. I’m a bit bad at that because I want to achieve so many things, but sometimes I just have to breathe and take a step back and remind myself I’m human and there’s only so much I can do in a day and release some of that unnecessary pressure off my shoulders by taking it one step at a time. But I do enjoy everything I am able to do within the entertainment industry, and I feel liberated to call myself a triple threat.
I never want to take any opportunity for granted, so I see every opportunity as a blessing, and with that mindset, the hustle doesn’t feel so unbearable. The hustle feels less like a hustle when you are passionate and truly love what you do. I think the biggest blessing we can give ourselves is finding a career that gives us purpose and fulfillment every day with an eagerness to do what brings us happiness and call it our job. That happiness is contagious and will then be radiated onto other people. There’s nothing more motivating than feeling proud of all your hard work.
ADVICE & FUTURE VISION
What advice would you give to someone dreaming of becoming an actor?
I would tell them to never give up. This industry is so tough to break into, and it takes a million failures and setbacks just to get one yes. I would say if being an actor is your ultimate dream, you have to fight for it. You have to become this unstoppable machine where you’re able to drown out all of the external noise and pressure the world is inevitably going to throw at you and solely focus on your dream and what your heart desires. It’s not an easy task, which is why very few actors are able to achieve their dreams of making it big in Hollywood. It might sound daunting, but I promise if you have the capacity to believe in yourself even when it feels like
you’re the only one, you’ll be able to overcome any obstacle that comes your way. It’s a mix of having that strength and perseverance along with luck and being at the right place at the right time. I’ve always said that the opportunities meant for us cannot pass us by, and what I mean by that is that you’ll never have to force or change anything about yourself for that door to open; rather, you will have to prove yourself through your work ethic and dedication as a test to show the world you are ready for it to serve you your destiny when the timing is right. My one piece of advice would be to become someone you and your younger self would be proud of through your words, thoughts, and actions. That will transpire into your character and work, which will allow a multitude of doors to open in your favor.
Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years—professionally and personally?
That’s a tricky one. In the next five years I’ll be 25 going on 26, which is a bit scary to think about! Professionally, I see myself succeeding in my chosen career in the entertainment industry, able to make a living off of an industry that brings me so much passion, purpose, and happiness in my life. I don’t view success as an amount of fame, money, or a title, but rather as fulfillment and liberation. My idea of success is to be able to do what I love and am most passionate about surrounded by the people I love while being able to make a name for myself as an established professional in my profession. I want to be extremely good at what I do best, making myself and my younger self proud.
I also want to set my future family up for success through my years of hard work and dedication poured into my career and be a positive inspiration to all, but mainly to my future children, that they can be anything they set their minds to and that all of their dreams are attainable so long as they work hard and always continue to believe in themselves and the power of their dreams. I never had that sort of inspiration from my childhood aside from my mother, so I see it as a very important mindset I’d like to instill in my family line from a young age to motivate the next generation in their chosen line of professions. Personally, I see myself already married by then. I’m not too sure about children yet; I still feel like at 25 I’m too young for kids and want to focus on achieving all of the goals I have set for myself first. I see myself thriving in a happy and healthy relationship along with my family and friends by my side. I see myself at my healthiest and happiest, prioritizing taking care of both my physical and mental health and overall wellness.

All-time favorite movie?
That’s literally an impossible question for me because I like so many genres of movies, but if I had to pick one, probably The Greatest Showman.
A role you wish you had played?
Santana Lopez in Glee! She’s such a powerhouse; I love her.
Method acting or improvisation?
I usually use a bit of both, but it depends on the role and project. However, I most frequently find myself using method acting out of the two.
Red carpet or rehearsal stage?
Ooh, that’s a tough one! Both have their special moments and memories, but probably the red carpet if I had to choose one because I love the glitz and glam of show business!
Which actor/actress inspires you most?
Meryl Streep! I talk about her all the time; she’s such an icon in my eyes. She has this sense of humility that brings life to each and every character she steps into, and it’s one of the many qualities that makes her acting so brilliant to me.
