Jennifer Michele de Winter is an award-winning actress, director, writer, and producer. She is passionate about telling stories both on and off the screen. Recently I interviewed this talented teen on her career and her plans for 2023.

What drew you into acting?

I always loved movies since I was a little girl. I have always been fascinated by it, and the desire just overtook me, where I wanted to be a part of storytelling as well and being able to share my stories with the world and put them on the screen is very exciting to me.

What is your process for breaking down a character?

That’s a great question. Every role is different. For me it all comes down to really understanding the character, in the deepest way possible. Every role is different, every challenge is different. I approached it uniquely based on the role and the project.

What do you look for in a film role?

I look for a challenge. Certain roles are perfectly right for you, and it’s an amazing feeling when you naturally connect to a character. At the same time, the more a role challenges me, the more fun it is!

You are also a writer, director, and producer. How do you balance all of those when you are working on a film?

Balance? Ha-ha. Honestly, I love it all, and I feel I need all of them to challenge myself and to keep growing. I see it as the different disciplines helping each other, and not one instead of the other. I like doing it all, and when I grow in my acting craft, it helps me as writer, producer and director as well, and vice versa.

Do you think it is important for an actor to keep a strong social media presence and if so why?

I think it’s fun to share stories with others, both on and off social media. Social Media is an avenue to inspire people, and I think it offers great opportunities to do that!

What is your advice for keeping a healthy work/life balance?

Work hard, play hard. It’s what I do, I can work really hard. But then when I have a day off, or just a few hours off, I don’t just like to rest, I like to do something fun, like boating or go out on the Jet Ski or something else adventurous as a reward to myself for working hard. It really fills me up and gives me energy to get back to doing what I love most, telling stories.

Tell us something people would be surprised to learn about you.

It’s not just telling stories that I like to do. I enjoy sculpting, painting, polo, boating and traveling very much as well!

What are your goals for 2023?

To continue to develop myself in my craft, have fun working on great projects and keep working doing what I love.

Any upcoming projects you can share?

Not anything I’m allowed to share yet, but things are in the works in Directing, Producing, Acting and Singing, all at the same time!
