According to media sources, the FHP stopped Black because he was operating a purple Dodge Durango with window tinting that “looked to be deeper than the legal limit.” Black’s driver’s license and car registration were reportedly found to be both expired by the time the police arrived and investigated him.
According to the Associated Press, cops searched the car after smelling marijuana and discovered roughly $75,000 in cash and a tiny plastic bag with 31 oxycodone tablets.
On Twitter, the official statement was released by Bradford Cohen, Black’s lawyer: “Never draw conclusions about a case from an arrest. There are always extra details and situations that support a defense, particularly in this situation. We will work to promptly settle the situation by getting him to bail today.”
The musician known for Back for Everything has had run-ins with the authorities in the past.
Earlier he was notably accused for attacking a teenage girl in February 2016.
Eventually, in order to get his charges commuted from 10 years in prison to 18 months on probation, Black pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree assault and battery.
Before former President Donald Trump commuted Black’s sentence on his final day in office in January 2021, he was sentenced to nearly half of a four-year jail term on various weapons and narcotics crimes. Black was described as “a notable artist and community leader” by the former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany at the time.
Black was most recently detained for trespassing in the early hours of New Year’s Day in his hometown of Pompano Beach, Florida.
